Rwanda TeamThe Team takes a day of retreat following our own Glandion Carney’s ordination by Bishop John Rucyahana. SPJ preached at the Cathedral on Sunday and led the Discipleship portion of the ordinands’ (eight deacons and four priests) retreat. On the day of rest, the Team also traveled to the Congolese Border (yes, the DRC) and observed the rather long line of UN trucks taking relief aid to the Congolese. It was inspiring. It was also chilling to think what was just across the border. Parts of the border town Goma, DRC, were leveled by an active volcano in 2003. Guerrilla conflict is savaging what is left. Genocide memorials are in the plans as begin our travels home tomorrow.
